Javid Soriano studied Philosophy at NYU and worked as a social worker for foster teens in the Bronx before learning how to use a camera. Impossible Dreams is his debut feature documentary, supported by grants and fellowships from the Sundance Documentary Institute, the Kadist Art Foundation, the Pacific Pioneer Fund, and the Gotham Film and Media Institute. Soriano’s editorial work includes projects such as “The G Word” and “American Justice on Trial: The Huey P. Newton Story.” He has also served as a visiting professor at the San Francisco Art Institute’s graduate fine arts program and as a . Currently, Soriano holds an artist residency at the SF Film Society.
